Our Mission

Old Man New Man Recovery (OMNMR) uses evidence-based practices, real-life experiences, and spiritual principles, to assist in learning and applying new patterns and reasons for change. At OMNMR we believe every experience has a lesson attached. We encourage everyone to learn from them, so we don't have to keep recreating the same unpleasant ones. We work on applying the information. When doing so, we formulate substance and structure.

Often, we emphasize that we are "Recovery Based." Not addiction based. This means, we encourage telling the truth about the addiction and the lifestyle, and focusing on where we are, and the path to where we want to be. Glamorizing the addiction and its mess only gets us caught up in its traps. Our goal is to get out of the traps and find new ways to get what we like, without the sabotage.

The successes of recovery are in either building a life we never had before, or getting back what was lost. The process of recovery is hard. There are ups, downs, times we feel like we aren’t worth it, and times we don’t know where to go or how to move on. But we do. Dr. Paul O., on page 417 writes in the Big Book, reminding us that “Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.” But there are universal laws and principles that always come into play. Cause and effect is one of those laws. I heard someone say, “Everything we do is a choice.” One thing they didn’t say is, “We always get to choose the response to it.” The Book of James shows another pattern, “Then when lust, when it has conceived it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.” If we continue through the cycle of addiction, we eventually violate something or someone. Then something in us is lost-dies even: naivety,  a relationship, hope, opportunity, a loved one, a friend, ourselves. We don’t always get to pick what dies. If we did there would be a lot of takesies backsies and trades in life. There would be no regrets.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” -Marianne Williamson. I believe this is the reason we have hospitals and prisons. Because the truth is, even if a person is “just hurting themselves,” their community is affected. Old Man New Man Recovery is about shedding the old and harmful to live in our new. I built this company after working years in the Texas prison system. See, people in these consequential situations get a full treatment team of resources and support to help them get and stay on track with their goals. The concept of OMNMR, is that we don't have to wait for more serious violations to justify connecting you to a treatment team of resources, serious support, and guidance.

If you're willing to do the work for yourself or your family, we're willing to at least point you in the right direction. Our focus is supporting you by giving you tools on your path to the betterment of your life.

About Us

Old Man New Man Recovery (OMNMR) is an out-patient counseling program owned and led by Pastephine Taylor. In 2005 Ms. Taylor started volunteering in the field of marriage and family counseling. In 2008 she completed her first degree in psychology. While on a path towards her marriage and family therapy license, it was noted that a large majority of family violence was influenced by substance abuse. This is why she chose to specialize in the large majority of the problem and become a licensed chemical dependency counselor.

In 2011 she got a second degree in chemical dependency counseling. In 2012 she started a paid internship in the Texas prison system, became fully licensed in 2013, and stayed working with parole, probation, and parents with child protective services cases until 2018. In 2018 Ms. Taylor formed Old Man New Man Recovery to mirror the level of treatment support that comes after serious violations. People in these situations get a full treatment team of resources and support to help them get and stay on track with their goals.
